日南海岸
Nichinan Seacoast
An amazing view woven by the blue sea and sky and the beautiful coastline
The views along the Nichinan Seacoast symbolize the tropical climate of Miyazaki, with the blue sea and sky, the rows of Canary Island date palms, and the many tropical flowers in bloom. And the drive along the roughly 100 kilometers of coastline stretching from the south of Miyazaki City all the way to Cape Toi at the southern edge is one of the most popular routes to drive in Miyazaki.
There are several observation points along the coastal route and its beautiful scenery where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the ocean. Among those, Horikiri Pass is one of the most famous spots for beautiful views on the Nichinan Seacoast. Other spots worth visiting include Aoshima Island with its lush subtropical vegetation, and Udo Jingu, a shrine located inside a cave. Other famous sights include the wild horses on Cape Toi, and the monkeys of Kojima.
Tropical fish and coral reefs can be found in the crystal clear ocean waters, and this place is also popular with surfers as one of the best surf spots in Japan, featuring the ever-changing waves of the Pacific Ocean.
