One classic way to enjoy Miyazaki is strawberry and tropical fruit picking!

While Miyazaki is well known as a place to pick strawberries, its warm climate also makes it perfect for picking tropical fruits as well! Make sure you check out the details on each farm’s website or contact them before visiting, as the available fruits, picking schedule, and fees depend on the season.

[Strawberries] Hinata Ichigoen (Miyazaki City)

This farm produces strawberries that are not only sweet and delicious, they’re also safe to eat for children and pregnant women.
Strawberry picking is only available on certain days and requires a reservation. Service is provided between January and May, and reservations must be made online up to the day before your visit. The strawberries are grown on high platforms so you can pick them while standing, and the row width is wide enough to allow strollers through in some places. You can pick all you can eat in up to 45 minutes, and compare up to four types of strawberries.
You can also try a selection of fresh morning-picked strawberries at the adjacent Coich Cafe, as well as strawberry parfaits and strawberry sandwiches.
* Parfaits made with other fruit are served outside the strawberry season.

[Strawberries] Lakeside Red Farm (Miyazaki City)

Visitors here can enjoy picking a strawberry variety called Sagahonoka that is very sweet and juicy and low on tartness. The two plans you can select from are one where you pay by the weight of strawberries you pick, and an all you can eat plan for one hour.
There is also a break area and kid’s corner, so parents with small children can focus on picking strawberries. You can also try making your own fresh strawberry juice.

[Strawberries] Kawahara Ichigo Noen (Nobeoka City)

Visitors here can enjoy picking sweet and fresh Sagahonoka strawberries on the spacious grounds of the farm. The strawberries plants are cultivated somewhat high off the ground at the perfect height for everyone from children to the elderly to enjoy picking them without getting tired.

Located at the foot of Mt. Mukabaki in Nobeoka City, this farm cultivates a variety of fruit without pesticides, including red kiwis that are rare in Miyazaki. From July every year, they offer rare varieties of grapes, and kiwi picking starts at the end of September.
